| 1 | Šalomoun stanovil počet sedmdesáti tisíc nosičů břemen, osmdesáti tisíc kameníků v horách a nad nimi tři tisíce šest set dozorců. | And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. |
| 2 | Šalomoun poslal Chúramovi, králi týrskému vzkaz: "Jako jsi jednal s mým otcem Davidem a posílal mu cedry, aby si vybudoval pro sebe dům k bydlení, tak jednej i se mnou. | And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them. |

Chci mu jej oddělit jako svatý, aby se tam před ním pálilo kadidlo z vonných látek, pravidelně se rovnaly chleby a ráno i večer, též ve dnech odpočinku, o novoluních a při slavnostech Hospodina, našeho | And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me. |

| 5 | Kdo však má tolik síly, aby jemu mohl vybudovat dům? Vždyť jej nemohou pojmout nebesa, ani nebesa nebes. A kdo jsem já, abych mu budoval dům? Leda abych před ním pálil kadidlo. | And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods. |
| 6 | Nyní mi pošli odborníka, který by uměl pracovat se zlatem, stříbrem, mědí a železem, s látkou nachovou, karmínovou a purpurově fialovou a uměl by vyřezávat řezby, aby pracoval s odborníky, kteří jsou u mne v Judsku a v Jeruzalémě, které zjednal mů | But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him? |
| 7 | Pošli mi též z Libanónu dřevo cedrové, cypřišové a algumímové. Vím totiž, že tvoji služebníci dovedou kácet libanónské stromy. | 9 | Hle, pro drvoštěpy kácející stromy, pro tvé služebníky, budu dodávat dvacet tisíc kórů drcené pšenice, dvacet tisíc kórů ječmene, dvacet tisíc batů vína a dvacet tisíc batů oleje." | Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great. |
| 10 | Chúram, král týrský, poslal Šalomounovi písemnou odpověď: "Protože Hospodin miluje svůj lid, dal mu za krále tebe." | And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil. |
| 11 | Chúram řekl dále: "Požehnán buď Hospodin, Bůh Izraele, on učinil nebesa i zemi, on dal králi Davidovi syna moudrého, prozíravého a důvtipného, který vybuduje dům Hospodinu a sobě dům královský. | Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them. |
| 12 | Nyní ti tedy posílám důvtipného odborníka Chúrama, | Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. |

| 15 | My budeme na Libanónu kácet stromy podle veškeré tvé potřeby a budeme ti je dovážet po moři jako vory do Jafy; odtud si je pak dopravíš do Jeruzaléma." | Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants: |
| 16 | Šalomoun po sčítání, které provedl jeho otec David, spočítal všechny muže, kteří pobývali v izraelské zemi jako hosté; bylo jich sto padesát tři tisíce šest set. | And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shall carry it up to Jerusalem. |
| 17 | Z nich udělal sedmdesát tisíc nosičů břemen, osmdesát tisíc kameníků v horách a tři tisíce šest set dozorců, aby přidržovali lid k práci. | And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. |
| 18 | And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work. |
