Vers | English: Douay-Rheims | English: King James Version |
| Unto the end, understanding for the sons of Core. | Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. |
| As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God. | The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. |
| My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God? | The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. |
| My tears have been any bread day and night, whilst it is said to me daily : Where is thy God? | I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. |
| These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me : for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God : With the voice of joy and praise; the noise of one feasting. | Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? |
| Why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, | And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it. |
| and my God. My soul is troubled within myself : therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill. | All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. |
| Deep calleth on deep, at the noise of thy flood-gates. All thy heights and thy billows have passed over me. | An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. |
| In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; and a canticle to him in the night. With me is prayer to the God of my life. | Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. |
| I will say to God : Thou art my support. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me? | But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. |
| Whilst my bones are broken, my enemies who trouble me have reproached me; Whilst they say to me day be day : Where is thy God? | By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. |
| Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God. | And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever. |
| Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. |
