Vers English: Douay-Rheims English: King James Version
Unto the end, for Maeleth, understandings to David. The fool said in his hear t: There is no God. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
They are corrupted, and become abominable in iniquities: there is none that doth good. Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully.
God looked down from heaven on the children of men: to see if there were any that did understand, or did seek God. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
All have gone aside, they are become unprofitable together, there is none that doth good, no not one. Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
Shall not all the workers of iniquity know, who eat up my people as they eat bread? God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
They have not called upon God: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear. For God hath scattered the bones of them that please men: they have been confounded, because God hath despised them. The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
Who will give out of Sion the salvation of Israel? when God shall bring back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
