Vers | English: Douay-Rheims | English: King James Version |
| Unto the end, destroy not, for David, for an inscription of a title, when he fled from Saul into the cave | Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me. |
| Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me: for my soul trusteth in thee. And in the shadow of thy wings will I hope, until iniquity pass away. | Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. |
| I will cry to God the most High; to God who hath done good to me. | What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. |
| He hath sent from heaven and delivered me: he hath made them a reproach that trod upon me. God hath sent his mercy and his truth, | In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. |
| and he hath delivered my soul from the midst of the young lions. I slept troubled. The sons of men, whose teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. | Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. |
| Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth. | They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. |
| They prepared a snare for my feet; and they bowed down my soul. They dug a pit before my face, and they are fallen into it. | Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God. |
| My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will Sing, and rehearse a psalm. | Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? |
| Arise, O my glory, arise psaltery and harp: I will arise early. | When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. |
| I will give praise to thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing a psalm to thee among the nations. | In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. |
| For thy mercy is magnified even to the heavens: and thy truth unto the clouds. | In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. |
| Be thou exalted, O God, above the l heavens: and thy glory above all the earth. | Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee. |
| For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? |
