Vers | English: Douay-Rheims | English: King James Version |
| Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the inscription of a title, to David himself, for doctrine, | Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. |
| when he set fire to Mesopotamia of Syria and Sobal and Joab returned and slew of Edom, in the vale of the saltpits, twelve thousand men. | Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. |
| O God, thou hast cast us off, and hast destroyed us; thou hast been angry, and hast had mercy on us. | For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. |
| Thou hast moved the earth, and hast troubled it: heal thou the breaches thereof, for it has been moved. | They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. |
| Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us drink wine of sorrow. | Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. |
| Thou hast given a warning to them that fear thee: that they may flee from before the bow: That thy beloved may be delivered. | They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. |
| Save me with thy right hand, and hear me. | Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear? |
| God hath spoken in his holy place: I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem; and will mete out the vale of tabernacles. | But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. |
| Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine: and Ephraim is the strength of my head. Juda is my king: | Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence. |
| Moab is the pot of my hope. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: to me the foreigners are made subject. | The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies. |
| Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? | Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield. |
| Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go out with our armies? | For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. |
| Give us help from trouble: for vain is the salvation of man. | Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah. |
| Through God we shall do mightily: and he shall bring to nothing them that afflict us. | And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. |
| Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
| But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
| Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy. |
