| 1 | Darnach schlug David die Philister und demütigte sie und entriß Gat und seine Dörfer der Hand der Philister. | Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines. |
| 2 | Auch schlug er die Moabiter, so daß die Moabiter David untertan wurden und ihm Gaben brachten. | And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts. |
| 3 | Und David schlug auch Hadar-Eser, den König von Zoba, gegen Chamat hin, als er hinzog, seine Macht am Strome Euphrat aufzurichten. | And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates. |
| 4 | Und David nahm von ihm tausend Wagen und siebentausend Reiter und zwanzigtausend Mann Fußvolk. Und David lähmte alle Wagenpferde; aber hundert Wagenpferde behielt er übrig. | And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots. |
| 5 | Und die Syrer von Damaskus kamen, um Hadar-Eser, dem König von Zoba, zu helfen. Aber David erschlug von den Syrern 22000 Mann. | And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. |
| 6 | Und David legte Besatzungen in das damaszenische Syrien, so daß die Syrer David untertan wurden und ihm Gaben brachten; denn der HERR half David überall, wo er hinzog. | Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. |
| 7 | Und David nahm die goldenen Schilde, welche die Knechte Hadar-Esers getragen hatten, und brachte sie nach Jerusalem. | And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. |
| 8 | Auch nahm David aus Tibchat und Kun, den Städten Hadar-Esers, sehr viel Erz, woraus Salomo das eherne Meer und die Säulen und die ehernen Geräte machte. | Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass. |
| 9 | Als aber Tohu, der König von Chamat, hörte, daß David die ganze Macht Hadar-Esers, des Königs von Zoba, geschlagen hatte, | Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah; |
| 10 | sandte er seinen Sohn Hadoram zum König David, um ihn zu begrüßen und ihn zu beglückwünschen, daß er mit Hadar-Eser gestritten und ihn geschlagen hatte (denn Tohu war im Kriegszustand mit Hadar-Eser), und er hatte bei sich allerlei goldene, silb | He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver |
| 11 | Auch diese heiligte der König David dem HERRN, samt dem Silber und Gold, das er von allen Nationen genommen hatte, nämlich von den Edomitern, Moabitern, den Kindern Ammon, den Philistern und Amalekitern. | Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. |
| 12 | Und Abisai, der Sohn der Zeruja, erschlug von den Edomitern im Salztal achtzehntausend Mann | Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand. |
